Patio Heaters
Do you find it annoying that you have to stop enjoying outdoors and enter indoor simply because the temperature has started to drop? With patio heaters, you can start enjoying outdoor living without having to worry about the temperature anymore. Many of us like to spend time in our backyards and a quality patio heater, you can stay warm in your yard even on the coldest of nights.
Patio heaters produce radiant heat just like the sun. The heat produced will warm people and objects but not the air in between. This makes them ideal for any draughty areas both inside and out which do not have direct contact with rain.
Patio heaters are designed to keep people warm and they can be powered by either electricity, natural gas or liquid propane. Propane patio heaters are generally very expensive because they are portable and they do not have cords or gas lines attached. Since the heaters give out warmth by radiation, you will get most of the warmth if you are in a direct line to the heat.
Most patio heaters are capable of heating up to a 20 foot diameter and they can raise the outdoor temperature 10 to 25 degrees. Indeed, they are ideal for geographic areas with long cool seasons and they are especially popular outside restaurants and pubs after smoking was banned indoors. They are not to be used for indoor residential heating though.
The patio heaters used in commercial locations such as the pub are in fact the same as those sold for domestic use. The only difference is the size and output of the heaters. For that reason, very few small scale heaters appear in commercial environments because they are hardly sufficient to warm up a large group of people.
Most patio heaters have a diameter of approximately 18 inches and they are typically 8 feet tall. The burner is mounted at the top of the heater and a small umbrella-type reflector is installed above it to direct the infra-red heat downward toward the patio.
Lighting a patio heater is very simple. Just push the control knob in and rotate to pilot position. After that, allow the depression of knob for up to 2 minutes to allow the flow of gas to go through the gas line. Finally, push the ignitor button once as the pilot light flame will appear and be visible in viewing hole below main burner.
